About the Acquisition Team
At Smallpdf, we work in pods, which are autonomous and cross-functional teams within the company.
You would be working as the pod lead in the Growth Acquisition team. Our goal is to attract more users to our platform, and help them engage with our product.
In more practical terms, we:

  • Collaborate together to plan, execute, and analyze experiments to drive activation, engagement, and ultimately—growth!
  • Find new channels and improve existing ones to expand both the quality & quantity of users on our platform
  • Make sure users find what they are looking for to get their work done
  • Help users discover and unlock 'superpowers' on our platforms

  • Backend: Golang
  • Infra: AWS, Docker, Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, Github
  • Data: Redshift, DBT, Metabase

What you will do:

  • Mentor, coach, and enable growth for the engineers in your team
  • Support technical decision making both within your team and across engineering
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management to set product requirements and provide high-level estimates
  • Work as part of a cross-functional team to improve and expand Smallpdf's functionality around payments and monetization topics
  • Drive adoption and improvement of various KPIs and OKRs both for your team and for engineering in general

Responsibilities:

  • Enable your team to deliver a high-quality product to satisfy users' needs
  • Management responsibility for the engineers in your team (3-5 engineers)
  • Technical decision making accountability, oversight, and delegation
  • Collaborate closely with other engineering managers and stakeholders
  • Work with the Talent Acquisition team to grow and nurture our engineering team

Requirements:

  • Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years of working as a software engineer or equivalent role building Web Applications
  • 3+ years management experience, preferably leading a team in a SaaS environment
  • Demonstrable ability to own a project from start to finish
  • Fluent English
  • Based in Zurich or willing to relocate (this is an on-site role)
  • Swiss or EU passport holder (or other permits that allow you to work in Switzerland)

Nice to have:

  • Experience scaling (micro-) web services to millions of users.
  • Experience with building and maintaining payments and subscription systems
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud providers
  • Experience with the specific technologies in our stack (Golang, React,...)
